Mr Arul Bala is an experienced neurosurgeon who operates at Joondalup Health Campus, Hollywood Private Hospital, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Royal Perth Hospital.
After graduating from UWA in 2001 and completing his post-graduate medical and surgical training, Arul commenced his specialist neurosurgery training in 2006, working at Wellington Hospital in New Zealand, the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth. In 2011 Arul was a locum consultant at Melbourne’s Monash Medical Centre, before spending two years completing post-fellowship training at the Salford Royal Hospital in Manchester. Returning to Perth in 2013, Arul then held public appointments for elective neurosurgery at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and trauma neurosurgery at Royal Perth Hospital. Applying the latest surgical techniques, Arul performs endoscopic endonasal skull base surgery for the removal of brain tumours including meningiomas, craniopharyngiomas and pituitary adenomas. Arul also conducts acoustic neuroma surgery (with a focus on facial nerve preservation) and treats patients experiencing complications arising from a range of conditions including acromegaly or Cushing’s disease. In addition to operating on brain tumours, Arul also treats common spinal conditions including disc herniation or complex issues such as deformity, fractures, cancer of the spine or spinal cord tumours. Arul’s key focus is improving his patients’ quality of life and ensuring any surgery required is as minimally invasive as possible. |
